Rep. Earl L. "Buddy" Carter has introduced the Stop Wasteful Allocations of Money for Pelosi (SWAMP) Act, a legislative proposal aimed at authorizing President Trump to sell the Speaker Nancy Pelosi Federal Building in San Francisco, California. The initiative is presented as a measure to address what Rep. Carter describes as wasteful spending of taxpayer money.
Rep. Carter emphasized the country's financial situation by stating, "We are over $36 trillion in debt. Instead of maintaining expensive, underutilized vanity projects for liberal politicians, the federal government should be focused on efficiency and fiscal responsibility." He further explained that selling the building is part of a broader strategy to curb federal overreach and prioritize American taxpayers.
The building in question reportedly opened in 2007 with a construction cost of $144 million. According to reports, President Trump is contemplating its sale as part of his administration's efforts to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse within the federal government.
