Rep. Earl L. "Buddy" Carter (R-GA) expressed his support for the bipartisan Institute for Telecommunication Sciences (ITS) Codification Act, which recently received unanimous approval from the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

In his remarks, Rep. Carter emphasized the growing demand for wireless technology and the need to explore opportunities for reallocating and sharing spectrum from federal users for commercial purposes. He highlighted the importance of protecting federal missions through complex technical testing and analysis conducted by experts at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA).

"As policymakers consider reallocating federal spectrum for commercial use, the FCC and NTIA must have the information they need to make these decisions," said Rep. Carter.

He underscored the role of the Institute for Telecommunication Sciences (ITS) in conducting radiofrequency tests that provide critical technical information. According to Rep. Carter, ITS's work has led to innovative advancements in managing airwaves, contributing to faster mobile connectivity in the United States.

"The ITS Codification Act will strengthen statutory authority for ITS and ensure that the work they do to advance United States wireless leadership remains a critical ingredient to our success," he stated.

Rep. Carter also expressed gratitude towards Representative Petterson and urged colleagues to support the bill.
