The Hart County Historical Society & Museum has commenced its 36th year, continuing its mission to preserve the history of Hart County. Located in the historic Teasley-Holland House at 31 East Howell Street, the museum showcases a wide array of artifacts donated by individuals, families, and organizations. It is open every Friday from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM and during city events and Saturday festivals.
In 2024, the Society marked several achievements. These included improvements to museum grounds with landscaping and pipe repairs, growth in membership through meetings and drives, updates to organizational by-laws, and collaboration with the Archway Partnership for future enhancements. Additionally, there was increased engagement with local schools. Plans are in place to launch History Clubs at Hart County High School (HCHS) and Hart County Middle School (HCMS) in Fall 2025.
Looking forward to building on these successes in 2025, the Society encourages community members to join as members. Membership forms are available for completion and submission at the museum's mailing address. The organization operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit entity reliant on contributions from members and other supporters.
The board of directors for 2025 includes Dr. R. Allen Stewart (President), Jim Bannister, Sandra Brown, Sandra Bruce, Nancy Clark, Libby Forbes, Mack Martin, Bob Seawright, Lynn Simpson, Peggy Tucker, and Peggy Vickery.
