Rep. Earl L. "Buddy" Carter (R-GA) has been appointed as the Chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committee Subcommittee on Health for the 119th Congress. The announcement was made by Energy and Commerce Committee Chair-Elect Brett Guthrie (R-KY).
Carter, who has over four decades of experience as a pharmacist, expressed his enthusiasm for leading the subcommittee. He stated, "As a pharmacist for more than forty years, I am thrilled to sit atop the Health Subcommittee for the 119th Congress under the stalwart leadership of Chair-Elect Guthrie. The goal of this subcommittee is as straightforward as it is consequential: help Americans live healthier and longer lives." Carter emphasized collaboration with President Trump to address issues such as chronic disease, price transparency, health care competition, consolidation challenges, fentanyl abuse, and prioritizing patient care.
Chairman-Elect Guthrie praised Carter's background in pharmacy and its relevance to his new role. "I look forward to working with Congressman Carter in his new role as Chair of the Subcommittee on Health," said Guthrie. He highlighted Carter's focus on transparency in health care and reducing prescription drug costs by holding intermediaries accountable.
The appointment signals a commitment to developing conservative health solutions aimed at benefiting American citizens.
