Higher student enrollment in White County School District, differing from the state's trend

The only school district in White County had rising enrollment in the 2022-23 school year, according to the Georgia Department of Education.

There were 3,699 students in the halls of White County School District, 0.2% more than the year before.

Enrollment in White County was steady compared to the state's trend of decreasing enrollment.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 52% of them were male, and 48% were female.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, representing 87% of the White County School District's total enrollment.

White County School District has a main office in Cleveland and is the only school district within White County.

According to the Georgia Department of Education, over 1.6 million students were enrolled in Georgia's public schools during the 2021-22 school year. The state boasted a diverse and closely distributed student body across grade levels, with roughly 44% of the students in elementary, 24.5% in middle school, and 31.5% in high schools.

The state also registered an ethnically diverse student body, with 34.4% of the students identified as white, 36.5% as Black, 17.1% as Hispanic, and 4.5% as Asian.
