Towns County Education: 946 students were enrolled in 2022-23 school year

There were 946 students enrolled in Towns County schools in the 2022-23 school year, 0.1% less than the previous year, according to reports from the Georgia Department of Education.

Boys made up 54.5% of the county's student body, while the other 45.5% were girls.

Data also showed that white students made up 88.3% of the student body, the largest percentage in Towns County schools, followed by Hispanic students with 6.4%, 2.4% multiracial students, 0.8% Asian students and 0.6% African American students.

Towns County Elementary School stood out with the highest enrollment among Towns County's three schools in the 2022-23 cycle, welcoming 444 students.

As of 2024, Georgia has an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 15:1, which is better than the national average of 1:16. The state has its best student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1 in pre-kindergarten and middle school grades, while high school has an average ratio of 17:1.
