Rep. Earl L. “Buddy” Carter has successfully secured $1.24 million for the Camden County Resiliency Center to combat sea level rise along Georgia’s coast. The funding is part of the Fiscal Year 2024 Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act.
In a statement, Rep. Carter highlighted the importance of the center's work in protecting, restoring, and responsibly developing Camden County. He emphasized the center's role in engaging, educating, and monitoring Georgia’s coastal environment, as well as promoting smart development practices.
Rep. Carter expressed his support for the center's efforts, stating, “The Camden County Resiliency Center does important work to make sure our communities can meet the challenges of our changing environment. Through community engagement, education, and recovery efforts, the center will help coastal Georgians stay prepared for sea level rise, erosion, and other coastal challenges, ensuring that we can enjoy our beautiful coast for generations to come.”
Ben Casey, Camden County District 5 Commissioner, expressed gratitude to Congressman Carter for the funding, calling it a game-changer for the community. Casey emphasized the significance of the grant in building resilience and providing a hub for addressing community needs and engagement, especially during emergencies. He thanked Rep. Carter for his support and advocacy, stating, “Thank you, Congressman Carter, for funding our Camden County Resiliency Center. As part of the 2024 fiscal spending bill, this grant is truly a game-changer for our community. It's not only about buildings and budgets; it's about people.”
