Rep. Earl L. “Buddy” Carter (R-GA) has successfully secured $3.7 million in federal funding to upgrade Glynn County's emergency communications technology. The funding is part of the Fiscal Year 2024 Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act.

The allocated funds will be utilized to replace the county's portable radios, which were set to reach their end-of-service date on December 31, 2023. The new radios will come equipped with LTE and Wi-Fi capabilities, ensuring that first responders in Glynn County, including various agencies like the Glynn County Police, Glynn County Sheriff’s Office, GB911, and others, can effectively carry out their duties of protecting life and property in the county.

"Our first responders are some of the best among us, and it is important that they have the tools they need to quickly and efficiently perform their jobs. We are safer when our first responders are properly equipped, and I am proud to support this necessary funding to help protect Glynn County residents and visitors," expressed Rep. Carter.

Glynn County Board of Commissioners Chairman Wayne Neal also expressed gratitude for the support provided by Rep. Carter, stating, "We are appreciative of the strong and steadfast support Representative Carter gives to the district. This funding will empower all public safety agencies in Glynn County to enhance their services to the community."

This funding allocation signifies a significant step towards ensuring the safety and well-being of Glynn County residents and visitors, as it enables the enhancement of emergency response capabilities within the region.
