Rep. Earl L. “Buddy” Carter (R-GA) has successfully secured $1.5 million for the College of Coastal Georgia to construct a Campus Loop Road aimed at enhancing campus safety and traffic flow. The funding was included in the Fiscal Year 2024 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act.

Speaking about the importance of the funding, Rep. Carter emphasized, "The College of Coastal Georgia is a wonderful institution that provides a world-class education right here in our district. Student safety is a priority, and this funding will ensure that campus police can quickly and efficiently respond to emergencies, while also alleviating traffic around the college."

In response to Rep. Carter's efforts, Dr. Michelle Johnston, President of the College of Coastal Georgia, expressed gratitude, stating, "We are incredibly grateful to Congressman Buddy Carter for his dedication to and support for important needs in our community. The investment of $1.5 million from federal Community Project Funding toward the College’s Loop Road initiative will enhance campus safety by providing a connection between the north and south ends of campus. Most importantly, this roadway will allow campus police and emergency vehicles to respond quickly when time is of the essence. Congressman Carter’s leadership and advocacy are so greatly appreciated."

This funding will facilitate the construction of a single outer loop road on the campus, providing access to parking lots and service zones. The Campus Loop Road project aims to enable campus police to respond swiftly to emergencies and improve traffic circulation within the college premises.
