Rep. Earl L. “Buddy” Carter (R-GA) has announced his third annual “Friends of the First” campaign, inviting community members across Georgia’s First Congressional District to join him in thanking first responders for their hard work and dedication to protecting the community.

The campaign, which takes place on Valentine’s Day, aims to collect valentines for first responders in the district. Rep. Carter will personally deliver the cards to firefighters, EMTs, and police officers in every county in the district, as a token of the community’s love and appreciation for their sacrifices and contributions to public safety.

In a statement, Rep. Carter expressed his gratitude for the brave men and women who put their lives on the line to protect others. He said, “Firefighters, police officers, and EMTs do more for their community in one shift than most people do in a lifetime. I and our district are so grateful for their service, and this is a way for us to show them that appreciation.”

Sheriff Mark Melton of Appling County also expressed his support for the campaign, saying, "As Sheriff of Appling County, I am thrilled that Congressman Buddy Carter understands the importance of our first responders and seeks ways to show his support. Thanks, Congressman, for your concern for our people."

To participate in the campaign, community members are encouraged to mail or drop off their valentines by February 7th at the Office of Rep. Buddy Carter, located at 6602 Abercorn Street Suite 105B in Savannah, GA. Select cards will be featured on the Congressman’s social media platforms.

This campaign serves as an opportunity for the community to come together and express their gratitude to the first responders who work tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of the district. It is a reminder of the importance of recognizing and appreciating the sacrifices made by these dedicated individuals.
