Emmanuel Honors Legendary Coach!

Thank

On Saturday, Emmanuel honored former basketball coach, Arlon Beadles for his dedication and service to Emmanuel!

Coach Beadles served as the head Men’s Basketball Coach from 1977-1985 and again from 1992-1994. In 1998, he became the coach of the Women’s Basketball team where he stayed until 2003!

He went onto lead the Lady Lions to one South Region Championship and an appearance at the NCCAA National Championship, both in 2000.

Following his time at Emmanuel, Coach Beadles coached the Lady Lions of Southwestern Assemblies of God University where he led the Lady Lions to two NCCAA Central Region Championships, three NCCAA National Championship Appearances, and one NAIA National Tournament. Coach Beadles was named NCCAA Regional Coach of the Year six times and the Red River Athletic Conference Coach of the Year once.
In 2016, Coach Beadles was inducted into the NCCAA Hall of Fame.

His career spanned three decades, and although his teams saw great success on the court it was evident in how he led, that pouring into young lives and teaching his athletes about Christ’s love was the responsibility he cherished most.

“Arlon Beadles is one of those rare guys who comes along once in a while who epitomizes what it means to be a good person,” said Emmanuel President, Dr. Ron White. “He is humble, kind-hearted, and always looking out for others’ best interests. At the same time, he is a fierce competitor, but not at all costs. Whether winning or losing, Arlon always demonstrated Christian values and exhibited the heart of a champion.

He was joined on Saturday by his wife, Mary and children, Greg, Adam and Traci, along with their spouses and nine grandchildren.

Thank you, Coach Beadles for the impact you made at Emmanuel and in the sport of basketball!
