NGTC Names New Campus Police Chief

North Georgia Technical College (NGTC) named Mark Fitzpatrick chief of campus police effective Jan. 2, 2023. 

Fitzpatrick most recently served as special operations commander at Gwinnett County Police Department where he was responsible for the SWAT, aviation, K9, DUI, accident investigations, motors unit and Explosive Ordinance Disposal divisions. Since beginning work at Gwinnett County Police Department in 1996, Fitzpatrick has served in various divisions and roles including police officer, police corporal, police sergeant, police lieutenant and police major. 

Fitzpatrick began his law enforcement career at Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Department in 1992 as deputy sheriff. He holds a master of arts degree in homeland security and defense from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, Calif., a bachelor of business administration degree in finance from Georgia State University, and an associate degree in business administration from the University of North Georgia. He and his wife, Linda, reside in Cleveland.  

“We are excited to welcome Chief Fitzpatrick to North Georgia Technical College,” said Dr. Michele Shirley, NGTC executive vice president of administrative services. “His knowledge and experience will be an invaluable asset to our college, and we look forward to his leadership in this role as he works with students, faculty, staff and the community.”
