Giving Market Features and Supports Ministries

For the seventh year in a row, Providence hosted the annual "Giving Market," a unique on-campus shopping experience that combines a marketplace for purchasing gifts with support for organizations that are meeting needs locally and around the world.

Once again this year, the generosity of our Providence community shined through as shoppers raised $34,545 for participating ministries. Over the past seven years, the event has raised more than $224,000.

Hundreds of shoppers attended the event, which featured 18 ministry vendors selling bags, jewelry, art, clothing, food, and much more. Each vendor supports people in need. Some employing women overseas who make products sold at the market; others are ministering to local refugees.

Fundraising is not the only purpose for The Giving Market. It is one of the ways Providence makes students aware of the needs of refugees and others around the world and connects them with people who are hard at work meeting those needs.

It is also an opportunity for them to see how creativity and entrepreneurship can be combined to show Christ's love to others.

This year, The Giving Market featured 18 vendors, including Heart for Africa, Intertwined Candles, Just One Africa, Refuge Coffee Company, Samaritans Purse, Proskuneo Ministries, Presencia, Sunavworld, Bake in Time, Young Life Haiti, Young Life Middle East/North Africa, Ethiopian Moms, Life Beads, Rahab's Rope, Ziyada, Slice Bake Shop, Beaudin, The Lydia Project.
