Habersham County is pleased to announce Brooke Whitmire as the newly selected Parks and Recreation Director. Whitmire is an experienced professional with over ten years of working in Parks and Recreation. Whitmire's first day on the job will be Monday, August 22.
"I cannot wait to join the Habersham County team!" said Whitmire. "While I am from Banks County, I have strong family ties to Habersham and the Clarkesville area. I grew up spending time between both places with family and friends, and I am overjoyed at the opportunity to move back into the area. The mountains are calling me home!"
Whitmire has spent over six years as Director of Banks County's Parks and Recreation Department and has been active in community recreation since early childhood. Whitmire says the experiences she gained through participating in recreation programs helped shape her into the person she is today.
Because of her early positive recreation experiences, Whitmire chose to pursue a career in Parks and Recreation through the University of Georgia's Recreation Management and Leisure Studies.
"I hope to bring tested knowledge and experience of the field, along with fresh new ideas that help to enrich the department and the community," said Whitmire. "I am enthusiastic and impassioned about what we do as recreation professionals, and I am honored to be the next Parks and Recreation Director for Habersham County."
