CITY OF DEMOREST: Fourth of July

Demorest

City of Demorest recently issued the following announcement.

It is almost July and the Demorest Glorious Fourth of July Celebration will be back on 07/04/2022.    All are invited to come celebrate our great nation’s 246th birthday and the long running family holiday tradition in Demorest.   There are some changes to the timeline of events from previous years.

T-shirts featuring the design of our new fire truck are available to purchase at City Hall and during all activities on the Fourth.

8am – Run for Glory 5k sponsored by The Torch.  For more information and instructions on how to sign up, please contact their office at 706-778-4063

2pm – Food and Merchandise vendors will begin setup.   Activities will begin at Demorest Springs Park.   There will be several fun things for children to enjoy including a bouncy house.

4pm – Parade will begin.   The Grand Marshall will be the Habersham Central Band of Blue Director Ryan Dukes accompanied by the Band of Blue.

There will be special emphasis on children participation in the parade this year.   Children are encouraged to participate with their bicycles, wagons, or electric powered cars and will be escorted by the Demorest Police Department to a designated pickup location.

Contact Demorest City Hall at 706-778-4202 if your child or organization (church, club, business) would like to participate and celebrate the return of the parade.

7pm – Concerts in Demorest Spring Park by Gregg Erwin & Steve Bryson.  Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy a fine evening of music and fun.

An announcement will be made at the conclusion of the concerts to attendees and there will be a break for time to get in position to view fireworks.

9:30 pm or soon after sunset.   Fireworks will be shot behind the old Demorest Elementary School from Brent Lee Moore Park.  Last year was a trial run for this location and we have listened to many suggestions for improvement.   The fireworks this year are expected to reach a higher altitude and should be seen from a greater area.   Prime viewing locations are expected to be in the area around the old Elementary School.

Please visit the forms tab at the top of the home page for an application.
