RIVERSIDE MILITARY ACADEMY: Hague-Smith Finds Camaraderie and Leadership Opportunities at RMA

Leadership balloon

Riverside Military Academy issued the following announcement on Apr. 12.

Before Tristan Hague-Smith arrived at Riverside Military Academy (RMA), he was the quintessential snow skier for whom life began and ended on the slopes of Utah. To him, homework was pointless, attending classes was a nuisance, and disrespect at home was common.

Hague-Smith's intelligence and potential were never in question. As his mother, Libby Hague-Smith, said, "We knew he was bright with much potential." Tristan had previously shown interest in the military, so Libby decided to investigate RMA because of its distinctive military structure and challenging environment.

"Sending our son to RMA was the best decision we could have made for him. Our son has changed more than we could have dreamed in just one semester," said Libby. As aggressively as Tristan attacked the slopes of Utah, he became just as focused on the opportunities offered at RMA.

Tristan found his passion early on by joining RMA’s National Champion Army Raider Team where he bonded with his teammates very quickly. Shortly thereafter, he joined the Band and the Wrestling Team and was promoted in the Corps of Cadets, aspiring for even higher ranks.

As Tristan progressed in several areas at school, others noticed. He was recently selected as a Cadet Ambassador, where he leads prospective families on campus tours and shares his RMA experiences.

Tristan’s mother continues to be pleased with his progress. "By far, the best part is that we talk more, and we are closer. Watching Tristan transform, find himself, and thrive makes it worth every penny and time away from him," said Libby.
