Northeast Georgia Medical Center issued the following announcement on Feb. 9.
Patients searching for structural heart services in Georgia now have a new option for their complex heart care. Ronnie Ramadan, MD, FSCAI, FACC, has joined the state’s most forward-thinking heart and vascular program as the medical director for Georgia Heart Institute’s Structural Heart Center, returning to his Georgia roots and expanding the institute’s already robust team.
Pranav Kansara, MD; Dan Winston, MD; Allan Wolf, MD; and Nima Gazemzadeh, MD welcome Dr. Ramadan to the group, which has enjoyed significant growth.
“I know Dr. Ramadan will bring new insights through his vast experience,” says Habib Samady, MD, FACC, FSCAI, interventional cardiologist and president of Georgia Heart Institute. “We’re excited to see our Structural Heart Center continue to grow and expand so patients can receive this care even closer to home.”
An interventional and structural cardiologist, Dr. Ramadan will be practicing at the Georgia Heart Institute location in Gainesville. He received his internal medicine and general cardiology training at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta and then completed an interventional cardiology fellowship at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center of Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts, where he also received formal training in structural heart interventions. He then pursued additional advanced training in structural heart interventions at Emory University.
Most recently, he served as the director of the Structural Heart Program at the VA Boston Healthcare System, where he spearheaded the institution’s efforts to establish their structural heart program, founded their structural heart clinic and launched their inpatient structural heart consultation service. Dr. Ramadan was also an attending interventional and structural cardiologist at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital of Harvard Medical School, where he also served as an instructor in medicine.
