Riverside Military Academy issued the following announcement on Jan. 5.
The dates for Riverside Military Academy’s 2022 Summer Leadership Academy (SLA) are set,
and applications are now being accepted.
SLA is a three-week summer program available to rising 6th through 12th grade students.
The 2022 program offers two options: SLA (Co-Ed) with a focus on leadership and character
development, communication, and competency; and SLA (Male Only), a military-style
program designed to prepare students for military school or a future in the service.
While the two options vary in style and goals, either will help your student reach his or her
full potential and develop leadership skills for a successful future.
Summer Leadership Academy (Co-Ed) is June 12 – July 1, 2022 and is open to male and
female students who are rising 6th through 12th graders. Activities are geared toward
camaraderie, teamwork, morale, college preparation, and career options. Some anticipated
activities include:
- Classroom instruction with guest speakers
- Leadership training and assessments
- Whitewater rafting, horseback riding, and hiking
- Excursions to Medieval Times, team building centers, and a Federal Courtroom
- Graduation ceremony (July 1, 2022)
Students will finish the program by preparing an oral and written project presentation.
Successful completion of the academy results in a half credit elective for high school.
The cost is $3,900 for domestic students and $4,500 for international students.
SLA (Male Only) is July 10 – 30, 2022 and is offered to male students who have interest in a
service academy, ROTC, or a secondary military school. While both academies are geared
toward leadership development, students who enroll in the July Academy will receive a
more structured experience, giving them a better understanding and preparation for service.
Activities include:
- Patrolling, rappelling, mountaineering, and digging foxholes
- Whitewater rafting
- Overnight trips to Ft. Benning and Camp Merrill
- Service Academy Prep
- Peer leadership opportunities
- Daily PT and PT assessments
- Tactical training (SQD and PLT) and evaluation
- Field craft
- Drill and ceremony
- Graduation ceremony (July 30, 2022)
including the application process, essay, and physical fitness tests.
An added benefit of SLA (Male Only) to students entering Riverside Military Academy in the
fall 2022 semester is the ROC (Recruit on Campus) cycle will be completed.
The cost is $4,376 for domestic and $4,990 for international.
