Charles R. Drew Charter School issued the following announcement on Dec. 30.
Drew Charter School offices are scheduled to reopen on January 3, 2022, with students returning to in-person learning on January 4, 2022. Drew will continue its strict COVID-19 protocols, which include mandatory weekly testing for employees, voluntary weekly testing for students, and mandatory masks for everyone inside of Drew’s buildings.
In preparation for students returning on January 4th, onsite COVID-19 testing will be offered Sunday, January 2nd, and Monday, January 3rd, for students/families, in the JA/SA parking lot, according to the following schedule:
-Sunday, January 2nd (10am - 4pm)
-Monday, January 3rd (10am - 4pm)
Please use the link below to 1) attach negative results of outside testing, 2) report COVID exposure(s), or 3) report positive cases. If you are reporting a COVID exposure or a positive COVID case, you will be contacted by a member of Drew’s nursing staff.

In addition to COVID-19 testing prior to our return to campus, as another precaution next week once campus reopens, Drew will also offer a second-round of testing for students and staff during the school day on January 6th and 7th. This second round of testing is the result of our ongoing consultation with the DeKalb Board of Health.
As we take steps to keep everyone safe, students and employees should refrain from attending in-person school or work when they are ill, have symptoms of COVID-19, or while they are awaiting test results.
Currently, Drew administration is monitoring available data on infection rates in Fulton and DeKalb counties, and Drew has an emergency staffing plan in place for school, if needed. We will inform parents and employees this week if any changes are made to the reopening of school.
For the Love of Drew,
Peter McKnight
Head of School
