Riverside Military Academy issued the following announcement on May 25.

Riverside Military Academy (RMA) congratulates Tomis Hamilton, ’22, on his outstanding achievement. Hamilton is one of 250 students nationwide awarded the 2022 Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship. Hamilton received $40,000 toward college and a paid summer internship at Amazon after his freshman year, where he will gain hands-on, practical work experience with mentorship from Amazon leaders.

“I hadn’t received any communication from Amazon regarding my submission, so I was surprised when I opened the package from Amazon, and I saw the word Congratulations,” said Hamilton. He believes this opportunity positions him far ahead of his colleagues by having a guaranteed internship with one of the most innovative corporations.

The Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship requires rising high school seniors to complete an Advanced Placement computer science course with the intent of pursuing a computer science degree at a four-year college or university. RMA’s newest signature program in Cyber Security allowed Hamilton to earn the CompTIA Security+ certificate, which undoubtedly helped distinguish him from the competition.
