Habersham County residents are required to secure burn permits before building most outdoor fires. In accordance with the guidelines below, burn permits are issued seven days a week.   For burn permits for Habersham County (outside city limits) Call or text 1-844-844-BURN (2876) or go online to georgiaburnpermits.com. Please have the following information ready: name, address, phone number, who is going to be out with the burn, and what you are burning.

  • City of Cornelia residents, call Cornelia Fire Department at 706-778-8585.
  • City of Clarkesville residents, call Clarkesville Fire Department at 706-754-2024.
  • City residents of Alto, Baldwin, Demorest, Mt. Airy and Tallulah Falls, call 1-877-652-2876, or obtain a permit online at www.gfc.state.ga.us/online-permits/index.cfm.
