Northeast Georgia Medical Center issued the following announcement on Apr. 12.

As a third-year medical student, Marc Veneziano, MD was in New York City on September 11, 2001. He clearly remembers the day and how it impacted his study of medicine.

“It was the first time I felt like I knew enough to help injured people,” said Dr. Veneziano, who is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.

Now, he’s bringing his expertise to Georgia Heart Institute, where he will be caring for patients at its Blairsville location.

Specific moments and memories seem to lead the way in Dr. Veneziano’s journey in healthcare. Another vivid memory is what drew him to cardiology.

“I knew I wanted to go into cardiology in medical school when one of my professors made a model circulatory system with a rubber bulb and surgical tubing,” Dr. Veneziano said. “It was a great model and made everything understandable.”

Dr. Veneziano grew up in Long Island, New York, and received his medical degree from New York Medical College. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at the University of Buffalo.

He previously served as the Medical Director of Nuclear Cardiology at Mount St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston, New York. He most recently served as an Attending Non-Invasive Cardiologist with The Emory Clinic in Cumming and Johns Creek, and at an outreach clinic at Chatuge Regional Hospital in Hiawassee. He was instrumental in the development of The Emory Clinic cardiology office opening in Johns Creek next year. Dr. Veneziano is board-certified in cardiovascular disease and internal medicine.

When he isn’t working, Dr. Veneziano enjoys reading, collecting coins and traveling with his wife and two children. He is also an animal lover, especially when it comes to his family’s dog, Mila.

Georgia Heart Institute in Blairsville is located at 246 Deep South Farm Road. To make an appointment, call 706-835-1917 or visit georgiaheartinstitute.org/physicians.
