North Springs High School issued the following announcement.
The results are in! Congratulations to the new members of our School Governance Councils (SGCs). Elections were held in April for both parent/guardian and teacher positions, garnering more than 10,000 votes.

Our SGCs play a critical role in the success of our schools. SGCs provide parents, school staff, community members, and students with leadership roles through monitoring and implementation of school-level strategic plans. The organizations work with school leadership and the community to help determine the long-term direction of a school, design innovative solutions to increase academic achievement, and serve as school ambassadors to the local community.
“The School Governance Council is a perfect opportunity for me to connect with my daughter’s school,” said Tri-Cities High School elected parent Kavon Arnold. “I look forward to bridging the gap between the Tri-Cities community and schools by focusing on opportunities for family engagement, advocating for equitable opportunities for all students, and promoting viable post-secondary options for students that come through Tri-Cities High School.”
Cam Lupiani, North Springs High School elected teacher, said, “North Springs has been my home for the last 20 years and I am proud to serve on the board that will lead it into the future.”
Samantha Alexander, Cliftondale Elementary School elected parent, said: “I ran for Parent Representative because I do have a vested interest in the Cliftondale community. I believe I can provide value to the position and look forward to the challenge.”
Parents and teachers who were interested in serving on their local councils declared candidacy this spring. Each candidate submitted a declaration statement with biographical information and reasons why they felt they would be the best fit for their school. Voting took place in the last week of April during which over 100,000 ballots were sent out to Fulton County Schools (FCS) stakeholders, each with a unique link, so that parents and teachers could securely vote for candidates in their learning communities.
A total of 97% of parent seats and 99% of teacher seats were filled through the elections. Members will serve two-year terms.
