North Georgia Technical College issued the following announcement on Feb. 17. 

North Georgia Technical College President John K. Wilkinson recently announced new additions in personnel and structure to the college’s leadership team. 

Dr. S. Vinson Burdette of Aiken, S.C., has been named vice president of student affairs effective April 1. Burdette most recently served as vice president of academic and student affairs at Aiken Technical College where he was responsible for leading academic programs and student services in addition to overseeing Title IX, SACSCOC accreditation, programmatic accreditation, continuing education and several grants. Since starting work at Aiken Technical College in 2011, Dr. Burdette has also served as dean of student development, vice president of enrollment management, and vice president of student affairs and marketing. 

Burdette began his higher education career at Tri-County Technical College in Pendleton, S.C., where he held multiple positions in student affairs and taught English for five years. Burdette also has experience teaching as an online adjunct instructor through Anderson University in Anderson, S.C., and working as a prevention specialist for alcohol and drug abuse on college campuses. 

Burdette holds a Ph.D. in educational leadership and a master of arts in professional communication from Clemson University, a graduate certificate in higher education from the University of South Carolina, a graduate certificate in academic advising from Kansas State University, and a bachelor of arts degree in English from Winthrop University. He and his wife Carla have four children and one son-in-law.  

Wilkinson also recently added institutional advancement responsibilities to NGTC leadership team member and vice president Amy Hulsey who currently oversees the college marketing, advertising, media relations and communications. Hulsey was named the Executive Director of the NGTC Foundation in addition to the responsibilities of being named vice president of institutional advancement and marketing. Hulsey’s duties were effective February 1. Hulsey most recently served as the vice president of college and community relations for the college. 

Hulsey has served at the college for seven years overseeing marketing and communications. She has a master’s degree in mass communication and public relations from the Grady College of Journalism at the University of Georgia and a bachelor’s degree in economics and music from Agnes Scott College.
