North Georgia Technical College Foundation recently received a $2000 scholarship donation from Grandaddy Mimms Distilling Company in Blairsville, Ga. 

Presented at the Blairsville/Union County Chamber of Commerce “A Night with the STARS” recent student recognition event, the scholarship donation will benefit incoming or current students enrolled at North Georgia Technical College in any academic program who quality for financial assistance. 

“Our industry is one that benefits from students who choose the technical college and trade school route,” said Megan Kimsey, general manager of Grandaddy Mimms Distilling Company. “We look forward to those students coming into the workforce. When we had the opportunity to pay it forward, we couldn’t think of a better place to send scholarship funds to. North Georgia Tech is a place that contributes to the community and works hard for its students. We are honored to be able to show our appreciation for all that they do.” 

Present to receive the award from the North Georgia Technical College Foundation included NGTC Foundation Board Chairman David Tinsley, NGTC Vice President of Institutional Advancement and Marketing and Executive Director of the Foundation Amy Hulsey and NGTC President John Wilkinson. 

“We appreciate the generosity of our community members who value the education of technical trades,” said Hulsey. “A scholarship donation can change the life trajectory of someone who desires to learn a new trade or begin a new career and previously thought it was impossible. Grandaddy Mimms Distilling Company will provide the funds for making a student’s career dream possible, and our Foundation is very thankful for their thoughtful donation.” 

The NGTC Foundation provides over 80 scholarships to students enrolled at North Georgia Technical College, and scholarships are awarded each semester. The upcoming scholarship application deadline for summer semester is Thursday, April 27, and applications can be accessed at northgatech.edu/foundation. Summer semester begins May 22, 2023.
