FOIA Request to White County Election Department Regarding Ballot Counting Methods on October 29, 2024. As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Georgia Mountain News have sent a request under the Georgia Open Records Act § 50.18.70 et seq.

The request is for a list of methods being used by the White County Election Department to count votes in the upcoming election. If any of these methods involve manual counting, we have also asked for an estimated number of people who will be working on election night.

As a media organization, our role involves gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities, which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
