The City of Toccoa is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a grant in the amount of $750,000 by the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) to assist with the construction of the new annex addition at the Historic Ritz Theatre. This project will include an expanded lobby, concession stand, merchandising stand, bathrooms, storage, ticketing, balcony access, and more.

Upon receipt of the grant, City Commissioner Terry Carter stated, “We are thankful for ARC’s continual investment in our region, both through this project and in previous years. ARC funding will not only be utilized to continue our restoration efforts at the Ritz Theatre, but will give our community the ability to enjoy the facilities we offer downtown in a safer and more accessible venue open to all community residents. The annex addition at the Ritz will serve as the new entryway into our historic theatre, and we are looking forward to showing the community more as this project begins.” Carter added, “The historic footprint of the exiting Ritz Theatre will remain the same as it has over the last 80 years.”
