Backstreet BBQ in Hartwell has received its third consecutive nomination for “Best BBQ in Georgia” from the Georgia Business Journal for 2025. The restaurant previously won the title in both of the last two years.

This year’s nomination comes as Backstreet BBQ marks its 25th anniversary since opening in 1999. The restaurant is known locally for its slow-smoked meats and house-made sauces, and has established itself as a gathering place for residents and visitors.

“Winning this award for the past two years has been an incredible honor, and being nominated again reaffirms our commitment to quality, tradition, and the people who make it all possible — our loyal customers,” said representatives from Backstreet BBQ.

To mark the occasion and thank supporters, Backstreet BBQ is offering a drawing for customers who show staff where they voted. Participants have a chance to win a gift certificate from the restaurant.

Fans are encouraged to cast their votes at https://gbj.com/best-of/vote/food-drink.

“We’re calling on all our fans and barbecue lovers across Georgia to help us keep the crown! Show your support and cast your vote at https://gbj.com/best-of/vote/food-drink,” said Backstreet BBQ.

The restaurant also expressed gratitude for customer support over its 25-year history: “Thank you for 25 amazing years — here’s to many more!”
